Beauty Tip

What is a facial cleansing?

A facial cleansing is more than just splashing water on your face and patting it dry with a towel. A cleansing involves thoroughly cleansing the skin, moisturizing it, and protecting it from the sun. It helps remove traces of dirt, makeup, sebum, pollution, and dead skin cells.

Steps for facial cleansing

1. Facial cleansing

Facial cleansing is important for having shiny and silky skin.

  • First, wash your face with a dermo-cleanser for dry or seborrheic skin, depending on your case, and avoid using hot water, as it dries out the skin. This way, you will dissolve all the makeup, dust or dirt particles that are trapped in your skin.
  • Skin cleansing should always be done with a light massage to allow for proper removal of impurities.
  • Rinse with plenty of water and dry.

2. Exfoliation

Proceed by applying a facial scrub for a few minutes to help remove dead cells, which cause your skin to look dull. Exfoliation can be done once a week and with products specifically designed for your skin. It is advisable not to use homemade scrubs, as you run the risk of irritating your skin.

3. Do not use steam

It is not advisable to apply homemade steam to the face due to the risk of irritation and even burns to the skin.

4. Toning

Apply your favorite toner using a cotton pad. Spread it evenly over your skin, making sure to focus on problem areas like the T-zone.

Toners are often a great option as they act as a natural sebum regulator and provide essential nutrients and vitamins directly to the skin to restore balance.

5. Hydration

Yes! Everyone needs a moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. Even though your body has its own natural lubrication system to secrete oil (or sebum) to create a protective layer against harsh external conditions and infections, most of us need extra hydration after the ravages of the sun, weather, and harsh chemicals.

Most experts recommend that the best time to apply a moisturizer is when your skin is still damp, so the sooner you apply a skin serum and moisturizer, the sooner you'll be able to retain much-needed hydration.

If you are using an acne treatment, avoid the areas you are treating when applying your moisturizer to ensure the ingredients do not interfere with the active ingredients in your treatment.

6. Photoprotection

It is essential to use sunscreen suitable for your skin, in cream for dry skin and gel for oily skin.

For best results, follow this routine in the mornings as soon as you wake up and before going to sleep at night. As the days go by, you will see the incredible results on your skin.
